     Make sure you fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cool. The gas stations have their storage tanks beneath the ground. The cooler the ground temperature the more dense the gas is, when its warmer gas will expand. So buying your gas in the afternoon and in the evening when the temperature is higher your gallon is not exactly a gallon.

     Do not squeeze the trigger on the pump handle all the way. Use the slow mode to fill up this will minimize the vapors that are created while you are pumping. Less vapor more gas.

     Maybe the most important tip is to fill up when you gas tank is at the half way point because gasoline evaporates fast even inside your tank. Gas storage tanks have a floating roof inside to minimize evaporation.

     Also if there is a gas truck filling up the storage tanks you should get gas somewhere else because the vapors are still in the gas and a gallon is not really a gallon.
